Rúben Amorim has confirmed that Manchester United will be without four players for their upcoming FA Cup third-round clash against Arsenal due to injuries, while another player remains a potential returnee. The eagerly awaited match is set to take place at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, as both teams vie for silverware this season.

Arsenal will be looking to recover from their recent 2-0 loss to Newcastle United in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final. Meanwhile, United, who have had extra time to prepare, enter the match after a hard-fought 2-2 draw with Liverpool in the Premier League.

In an interview with MUTV, Amorim provided an update on the squad’s fitness ahead of the showdown. “Victor Lindelöf is still unavailable, and Jonny Evans is also sidelined,” he said. “Amad has picked up a minor issue, but there’s a possibility he could recover in time. Luke Shaw is making steady progress, and Mason Mount is also improving. The rest of the squad is fit and ready to go.”

With four players ruled out and Amad’s participation uncertain, Amorim also addressed speculation regarding potential signings during the January transfer window. “I don’t recall saying I specifically want new players,” he explained. “What I emphasized is the importance of refining our recruitment strategy. Any player we bring in must fit our system. While risks are sometimes necessary, we also need to focus on developing talent from the Academy.”

Amorim reiterated his commitment to nurturing the current squad. “Our main focus is retaining our top players, especially those who embody the club’s values. I’m very proud of young talents like Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho. They’re improving consistently and contributing significantly to the team.”

Looking ahead to the clash with Arsenal, Amorim urged his players to remain focused. “Right now, our priority is the game. The players are training hard, and we’ll finalize the lineup closer to matchday. The focus should be on giving their best in this important fixture.”
