The two were traveling on the A-52 highway in the Zamora region when their car suffered a tyre blowout while overtaking another vehicle. This caused the car to veer off the road and burst into flames, according to a report by Daily Mail.
Spanish outlet Marca broke the news shortly before 9 a.m. GMT, which was quickly confirmed by UK media and Liverpool Football Club in an official statement released Thursday morning.

Condolences have flooded in from across the globe. Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa offered his sympathies, while Cristiano Ronaldo shared a touching tribute on social media.
In their honour, UEFA has announced a minute of silence to be observed at all Women’s Euro 2025 matches today and tomorrow. One of these games will see Portugal face Spain in Bern later tonight.
Remembering Diogo Jota and André Silva
Diogo Jota, aged 28, was a key figure in Liverpool’s Premier League success earlier this year and had just celebrated victory in the UEFA Nations League with Portugal last month.
Since joining Liverpool from Wolves in 2020, Jota scored 65 goals in 182 matches, collecting several major titles during his five years at Anfield. Just 11 days ago, he married his long-time partner Rute Cardoso, and together they have three young children.
His brother, 25-year-old André Silva, came through the youth ranks at FC Porto and went on to play professionally for Gondomar and Penafiel.
