Liverpool remain active in the transfer market this summer as Arne Slot continues his major squad overhaul. The new manager has already overseen significant changes, with several fresh arrivals and some high-profile exits from Anfield.

The Reds have added Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez to their ranks, while Darwin Núñez, Luis Díaz, Jarell Quansah, Caoimhin Kelleher and others have moved on. Despite this reshaping, Liverpool’s top transfer priority is still Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak. The Swedish striker has signaled his desire to leave St. James’ Park, but Eddie Howe and the Newcastle hierarchy are determined to keep hold of him.

At the same time, Liverpool are monitoring Real Madrid forward Rodrygo as a possible alternative. Should a move for Isak fail to materialize before the window closes, the Reds could switch their focus to the versatile Brazilian attacker. According to IndyKaila News via Football Insider, Rodrygo has already spoken with fellow countryman Alisson Becker, asking about life at Anfield and what it’s like to play for Liverpool.

Rodrygo’s future at the Bernabéu remains uncertain, with new Madrid boss Xabi Alonso preferring other attacking options. The 23-year-old has been linked with several Premier League clubs including Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Liverpool. A transfer to Anfield could become a reality if Isak proves unattainable.

For now, Isak is Liverpool’s first-choice target. Only if negotiations collapse will the club intensify their pursuit of Rodrygo. Encouragingly for the Reds, Alisson’s influence could prove decisive. The Brazilian goalkeeper, a Champions League and two-time Premier League winner at Anfield, is highly respected both on and off the pitch and could play a key role in convincing Rodrygo to join Liverpool.
