EFL CUP

BREAKING NEWS: Chelsea legend Joe Cole has ripped Chelsea worst player apart after sluggish performance against barrow where they emerge victorious in a 5:0 in the Carabao cup third round. He said, “He’s a total flop and an embarrassment to the club! Even against Barrow, he couldn’t do a thing in the full 90 minutes! How is he still wearing the jersey? Enough is enough — this guy needs to pack up and find a new club immediately! If he can’t deliver when it matters, what good is he? Time to cut our losses before he drags us down any further.” So lucky to be at this club” – cole react to Chelsea star’s ‘terrible’ performance despite 5-0 win over Barrow in EFL Cup clash.

Chelsea fans on social media expressed their disappointment with center-back Benoit Badiashile, despite the team’s dominant 5-0 victory over Barrow in the EFL Cup Round Three match on Tuesday, September 24. This marked Enzo Maresca’s first League Cup match at Stamford Bridge, which ended in a convincing win for Chelsea.

Christopher Nkunku was the standout performer in the game, securing a hat-trick with goals in the 8th, 15th, and 75th minutes. New signing Pedro Neto added another goal in the 48th minute, while an own goal by Barrow goalkeeper Paul Farman in the 28th minute rounded out the scoreline, giving Chelsea a comfortable 5-0 triumph.

However, despite the impressive performance from the team, many Chelsea supporters were critical of Badiashile’s performance in the defense. The French center-back contributed with eight clearances, two interceptions, and one tackle, but he also lost possession six times during the match. Fans took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to voice their frustrations with his performance, with some arguing that he is not deserving of a place in Chelsea’s starting lineup.

Several fans shared their opinions on X, with one writing, “Badiashile is so lucky to be at this club.” Another user added, “Badiashile is actually terrible.” A third fan expressed disappointment, asking, “What happened to Badiashile, man?”

One particularly frustrated supporter compared Badiashile unfavorably to former Chelsea players, stating, “The fact that Badiashile is still here is why I can’t take this club seriously. First, we let Don Azpi go to keep a guy who’s been out longer than he’s been here, and the wall TS6, for this of all people. Man walked the ball into his own net, I can never forgive that.”

Some fans also floated potential replacements for the French defender. One supporter asked for opinions about Chelsea’s rumored interest in Barcelona’s Jules Kounde, writing, “What’s your thoughts on Chelsea being linked to Jules Kounde?” Another fan responded, “Wouldn’t be a bad deal if Badiashile or Disasi leaves.”

However, recent reports have suggested that Chelsea is no longer pursuing Jules Kounde. Initially, the Blues were considering signing the Barcelona right-back as a potential replacement for Reece James, who has been sidelined due to injury since his red card against Brighton & Hove Albion on May 15. Kounde, who has become a key player for Barcelona under manager Hansi Flick, has played every minute of the season so far, contributing a goal and an assist in seven appearances across all competitions.

Due to Kounde’s importance to the Barcelona squad, the club has made it clear that he is not available for transfer and will remain with the team until his contract expires in June 2027. As a result, Chelsea has reportedly shifted its focus toward Fiorentina’s Michael Kayode as a more affordable alternative to Kounde.
