Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the team’s attack before the transfer window closes, following yet another disappointing defeat at Old Trafford. The 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace was United’s seventh home defeat of the season, leaving them with a troubling goal difference of -6.

Amorim’s tactical decision to leave out strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee in favor of playing midfielder Kobbie Mainoo as a makeshift forward did not yield results, as United failed to score for the ninth time this season. Despite their attacking struggles, the club is close to loaning out a third forward, with Marcus Rashford set to join Aston Villa on a temporary deal.

Acknowledging United’s goal-scoring issues, Amorim stressed that the team is working hard to find solutions. “We discuss this issue constantly, and we need to improve in all areas, especially in scoring goals,” he said. “We are doing everything we can to strengthen the team without repeating past mistakes. We understand the club’s current situation, but we are making every effort to improve.”

With just one day left in the transfer window, Amorim remains optimistic about securing a new forward to boost United’s attack. The club is exploring potential moves for Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku and Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel, though Amorim declined to confirm any specific targets.

When asked about Tel, who has gone 14 games without scoring, Amorim was noncommittal. “Once the window closes, we’ll assess our squad,” he said. “Right now, my focus is on improving the team collectively. We need to win more games, and that remains our priority. This season has been a mix of small improvements, setbacks, and the need to build momentum again. But it’s clear we must get better.”

Amorim’s remarks indicate that United is willing to take a risk on a new forward in an effort to resolve their attacking struggles. With the clock ticking, fans will be eager to see if the club can secure a player capable of making an immediate impact and turning their season around.
