Liverpool are reportedly tracking three Bayer Leverkusen players as potential transfer targets: Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Exequiel Palacios. According to sources close to the situation, Liverpool has shown increasing interest in Wirtz, who is open to a Premier League move despite also attracting attention from Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

Wirtz, a highly talented 21-year-old, is expected to command a transfer fee around €100 million if he leaves Leverkusen. While a move this year seemed unlikely due to the Bundesliga club’s firm stance on not selling him, it appears more probable that he could depart next summer. Leverkusen is realistic about the challenges of holding onto Wirtz, especially with so many elite European clubs interested, and Liverpool is expected to be among the clubs willing to meet the hefty asking price.

Wirtz could become one of Liverpool’s top targets, especially given uncertainties surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future, as the Egyptian star’s contract nears its end. If Salah leaves, Wirtz could fill the role of a marquee attacking signing for the Reds.

In addition to Wirtz, Liverpool is also interested in Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong. With a release clause set at just £34 million, Frimpong has garnered attention from multiple clubs, including Manchester United. Liverpool could be in the market for a right-back if Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is in the final year of his contract, departs. Real Madrid is said to be monitoring Alexander-Arnold’s situation, which could further motivate Liverpool to pursue Frimpong as a replacement. Frimpong would also be a good fit for Manchester United, who are still looking for stability at right-back after selling Aaron Wan-Bissaka and having question marks over Diogo Dalot. However, Liverpool’s project may be more appealing to Frimpong if he wants to advance his career.

The third Leverkusen player on Liverpool’s radar is Exequiel Palacios, though competition for his signature is fierce, with Chelsea and Arsenal also showing interest. Leverkusen’s asking price of €60 million might pose a challenge for potential buyers, particularly due to concerns over Palacios’ injury history.

Liverpool’s interest in these three players highlights the club’s intent to strengthen its squad in key areas and prepare for potential departures in the near future.
