Liverpool has reportedly sent a scout to Germany to finalize a key transfer following the announcement of Martin Zubimendi’s move to Arsenal.

After missing out on signing the highly regarded Real Sociedad midfielder, Liverpool has swiftly shifted focus, dispatching chief scout Barry Hunter to Nuremberg to negotiate a deal for Greek forward Stefanos Tzimas.

Earlier in the summer, new Liverpool manager Arne Slot had targeted Zubimendi as a marquee signing to mark his arrival at the club. However, the Spanish international chose to stay at his boyhood club before later agreeing to a surprising move to Arsenal.

In response, Liverpool has turned its attention to Tzimas, a 19-year-old forward currently on loan at FC Nürnberg from Greek side PAOK. According to Anfield Watch, Tzimas is seen as a potential replacement for Darwin Núñez, who has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League this month.

Liverpool is reportedly prepared to offer around £25 million for the Greek teenager, who has impressed this season with eight goals and two assists in 15 appearances. Tzimas is said to be keen on a move to Anfield, but any potential transfer depends on the possible sale of Núñez.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Saudi Arabian clubs have shown genuine interest in Núñez, though talks are still in the early stages. Romano commented, “Liverpool views Darwin as a key player and has invested significantly in him. While there is interest, negotiations have not yet advanced to a decisive stage.”

If Liverpool successfully secures the transfer of Tzimas, he would become the third player to join the club since Slot took over from Jürgen Klopp last summer. The move signals Liverpool’s intent to remain active in the transfer market despite setbacks and ensure the squad remains competitive.
