BREAKING NEWS: Liverpool’s first signing for the January transfer window has been announced, his the superstar player who was compared to Messi.
Liverpool may consider signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia if the Georgian winger leaves Napoli in January, according to renowned journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic. Ornstein reports that Liverpool admire Kvaratskhelia and are closely monitoring his situation at the Italian club.
While Liverpool are not actively pursuing the 23-year-old at this stage, they could make a move if he becomes available. However, they would face stiff competition from other top clubs, including PSG and Chelsea, who are also interested in the talented attacker.
Since joining Napoli from Rubin Kazan in 2022, Kvaratskhelia has become one of Europe’s most exciting attacking players. He has contributed 30 goals and 29 assists in 107 appearances for the Serie A side. This season, he has registered 5 goals and 3 assists in 19 matches, bringing his overall career tally to 52 goals and 53 assists across all competitions (according to Transfermarkt).
Although Kvaratskhelia’s current contract with Napoli runs until 2027, stalled negotiations over a new deal have drawn the attention of several elite European clubs.
A move to Liverpool might appear surprising given their depth on the left wing, with both Luis Díaz and Cody Gakpo excelling in similar roles. While all three players are versatile enough to operate across the front line, their primary positions overlap.
Speculation about Díaz’s future could, however, create an opening for Kvaratskhelia. Reports indicate that Díaz has turned down a contract extension from Liverpool, feeling undervalued. Additionally, clubs such as Barcelona have shown interest in the Colombian. Should Díaz leave in the summer, Liverpool’s pursuit of Kvaratskhelia would become more feasible.
