Arsenal are nearing a breakthrough in their pursuit of Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, currently leading the race ahead of fellow Premier League giants. According to information obtained by CaughtOffside, the Gunners are deep into negotiations and have tabled a five-year contract offer valued at approximately £9 million annually.

Although Arsenal appear to be in pole position to secure the Swedish international’s signature, both Manchester United and Liverpool remain keen on landing the prolific forward.

Sources have revealed to CaughtOffside that Manchester United are preparing their own bid for Gyokeres, while Liverpool have also made initial contact as they search for a potential replacement for Darwin Nunez.

Gyokeres’ incredible form makes him a hot commodity

While Gyokeres has yet to feature in the Premier League or any of Europe’s top five leagues, his stunning record in Portugal has attracted major attention. The 26-year-old has scored an extraordinary 95 goals in just 100 appearances for Sporting since joining the club last season.

Widely regarded as a “top player” by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya (via Metro), Gyokeres would likely be seen as a more consistent goal-scoring threat than current Arsenal forwards Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, neither of whom have delivered 25+ goal seasons.

United and Liverpool still in the mix

Despite Arsenal’s current advantage, their Premier League rivals could still complicate the transfer. Gyokeres reportedly prefers Champions League football, which might pose a challenge for Manchester United unless they secure a spot by winning the Europa League final.

Liverpool, fresh off their Premier League title under new manager Arne Slot, could offer an appealing long-term project and winning platform, making them a serious contender if Arsenal’s deal isn’t finalized soon.

Ultimately, Arsenal will need to act swiftly to seal the deal before United or Liverpool can make a decisive move.
