Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard is reportedly prepared to risk angering the club’s fanbase by bringing Mohamed Salah to Al-Ettifaq on a free transfer.

Although Al-Ettifaq isn’t part of Saudi Arabia’s “big four” clubs—Al Hilal, Al Nassr, Al Ittihad, and Al Ahli—Gerrard’s influence as manager could make them a key player in Salah’s potential move.

Currently sitting 11th in the Saudi Pro League and trailing leaders Al Hilal by 22 points, Al-Ettifaq are in desperate need of a reliable goalscorer. Reports indicate that Salah could join Gerrard’s side when his Liverpool contract expires at the end of the season.

While Al Ittihad remains confident Salah will join them this summer and his agent has reportedly reached out to PSG, sources close to Liverpool suggest Al-Ettifaq are now the frontrunners, potentially signing the Egyptian forward without a transfer fee.

Salah continues to attract interest from major clubs, including Barcelona, Juventus, Inter Miami, Al Nassr, and Zamalek. Liverpool previously rejected a £150 million offer from Al Ittihad, but Salah’s recent remarks hint at limited efforts by the club to extend his contract.

Al-Ettifaq is reportedly crafting their long-term strategy around Salah, and if they can meet his financial demands, their vision for growth leading up to the 2026 World Cup may appeal to the Egyptian star.

For now, Salah remains under contract with Liverpool, and the club retains control of the situation—assuming they are willing to engage in negotiations.
