Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal at Anfield has sparked intense criticism directed at left-back Andy Robertson, following a performance many have labeled as one of his poorest in recent memory.

The Scottish international, who has been a mainstay in Liverpool’s defense since his arrival in 2017, struggled to contain Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, who exploited the left flank to significant effect. Saka’s incisive play led to Arsenal’s opening goal, leaving Robertson exposed and prompting concerns about his current form.

According to player ratings from various outlets, Robertson received some of the lowest scores among his teammates. Squawka rated him at 48%, noting that Saka “gave him the runaround,” while Tribuna awarded him a 4 out of 10, highlighting his difficulties in defense and limited attacking contribution.

Pundits have not held back in their assessments. Alan Shearer described Robertson’s afternoon as “torrid,” emphasizing the challenges he faced against Saka. Gary Neville also pointed out Robertson’s struggles, suggesting that the defender had “his moments against Saka where he really struggled.”

The performance has reignited discussions about Liverpool’s options at left-back. With Kostas Tsimikas waiting in the wings and rumors linking the club to potential signings like Fulham’s Antonee Robinson and Wolves’ Rayan Aït-Nouri, questions are being raised about Robertson’s future role in the squad.

As Liverpool prepares for the final fixtures of the season, the spotlight will remain on Robertson to see if he can recapture the form that once made him one of the Premier League’s top full-backs.
