Chelsea Eyeing Two Left-Wingers Ahead of 2025-26 Season.
Chelsea are reportedly exploring options to bolster their left wing for the upcoming 2025–26 campaign. According to Football Transfers, the club has identified AC Milan’s Rafael Leao and Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho as top targets.
As per CaughtOffside, the Blues have already established informal contact with Leao. Meanwhile, TBR Football claims Chelsea are also in dialogue with Garnacho’s representatives. Other names previously on their wishlist include Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.
However, Chelsea face stiff competition from Arsenal, who are also pursuing Williams and Bynoe-Gittens. The Gunners are seen as offering a more appealing long-term project under Mikel Arteta’s leadership. At Stamford Bridge, the club is reportedly dissatisfied with Jadon Sancho’s performances, while Mykhailo Mudryk remains temporarily suspended following a positive doping test.
In light of this, Chelsea are seriously considering moves for both Leao and Garnacho. Leao is said to be available for €75 million, while United are expected to demand €70 million for Garnacho. Manchester United, meanwhile, are targeting Wolves’ Matheus Cunha as a potential successor to Garnacho. If United secure Cunha, Garnacho—who has registered 21 goal contributions in 55 games this season—could be more open to a departure.
Chelsea had previously pursued Garnacho during the January transfer window, but the deal fell through. However, they’ve reopened talks recently. The club remains highly interested in Rafael Leao, who has been on their radar for some time. Leao’s impressive tally of 25 goal involvements (12 goals, 13 assists) this season has only intensified Chelsea’s pursuit.
More Signings Expected at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea are preparing for a busy summer under new manager Enzo Maresca, who aims to reshape the squad. In addition to reinforcing the left wing, the club is targeting a new striker and central defender.
With Nicolas Jackson’s form declining in the latter part of the season and Christopher Nkunku expected to depart, Chelsea are looking at Victor Osimhen and Liam Delap to resolve their striker issues. For central defence, they are monitoring Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi and Juventus’ Dean Huijsen.
The Blues are also eyeing a return to Europe’s elite competitions. They face Real Betis in the UEFA Europa Conference League final on May 28, and a win could secure UEFA Champions League qualification—something that may further enhance their appeal to top targets.
