BREAKING NEWS: Merseyside Police Provide Update on Liverpool Parade Incident.

In a tragic turn of events during Liverpool FC’s Premier League victory parade on May 26, 2025, a vehicle drove into a crowd of celebrants on Water Street, resulting in 47 injuries, including four children. The incident occurred around 6 p.m., shortly after the team’s open-top bus had passed through the area.

Merseyside Police have arrested a 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area, believed to be the driver of the grey Ford Galaxy involved in the collision. Authorities have stated that the incident is being treated as isolated and not related to terrorism. 

Emergency services responded swiftly, with Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service rescuing four individuals, including a child, who were trapped beneath the vehicle. Twenty-seven people were hospitalized, two of whom are in serious condition, including one child. An additional 20 individuals received treatment at the scene for minor injuries. 

Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic and horrifying. One witness recounted hearing “the pop, pop, pop of people just being knocked off the bonnet of the car,” emphasizing the suddenness and confusion of the moment. 

Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the incident as “appalling” and praised the swift response of emergency services. He urged the public to allow the police space to conduct their investigation. 

Liverpool FC issued a statement expressing their thoughts and prayers for those affected and confirmed they are working closely with Merseyside Police. The club emphasized their commitment to supporting the victims and their families during this difficult time. 

The incident has cast a somber shadow over what was meant to be a day of celebration for Liverpool’s 20th league title. The community remains in shock as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding this devastating event.
